Cougar Nation has been like a drug addict looking for his next score for the last 48 hours. How many times have you refreshed your browser or Googled "paul wulff fired" since Sunday morning?

Well yesterday Bill Moos scheduled a 2:00 PM Press Conference for today, and it appears nothing new has materialized overnight.

In case you missed it, Wazzu did receive a verbal commitment from a Michigan high schooler by the name of C.J. Braithwhite. Braithwhite chose the Cougs over an offer from ASU, and was drawing interest from Indiana and Vanderbilt. He becomes the second RB commit in this class, along with BC's Terrell Davis.

You are all safe to stop refreshing your browsers and to go back to your regularly scheduled lives...until 2:00 PM that is!

Have a great morning.

UPDATE:  MONDAY 8 PM PST

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University Director of Athletics Bill Moos will hold a press conference Tuesday (Nov. 29) at 2 p.m. in room 186 of the Bohler Athletic Complex to discuss the future of Cougar football.

No mention of Paul Wulff's name in said release.  Doesn't mean that he won't be there....but doesn't mean he will be either.  No matter what, at least we'll know tomorrow!

UPDATE: MONDAY 11:00AM PST

Bill Moos just said on his weekly radio show that a decision will be made within the next 24 hours. Moos cited consistency as an important marker of a strong athletic program (Pro-Wulff) but noted that fan ethusiasm is critical at this point in the athletic program's development as well (Anti-Wulff).

We'll find out soon, but my sense is that Bud Withers at the Times is all over this one..

Hello Followers.  Hope you are doing great.

Well, as Vince Grippi noted tonight on Twitter.com, it looks like the Paul Wulff saga is going to make its stirring conclusion tomorrow.

As Moos noted in an official statement:

"Paul and I met for an hour and a half this afternoon so I could hear his assessment of the season and where he would like to take the program from here.  Our discussions will be on going."

*****

In a Twitter post, Sir Vincent interpreted the quote as follows:

"The 'take the program from here' seems to mean that Wulff would be part of that future. Can't take something unless you're involved."

Mind you, I don't agree with that assesment/interpretation.  However, I do find the final sentence in the statement to be especially peculiar re: the wording of "on-going discussions."   After all, one would think that any discussions (plural should be emphasized) between the two would not be ongoing if the guy was going to be canned tomorrow.

Final line of "ignorant speculation" for the day (Love you, Jenkins!):

1) Moos could have leaked his decision to fire Wulff to put Wulff in a posiition to put any needed staff changes on the table immediately following the season.

2) Moos could have leaked his decision to fire Wulff to put Wulff in a position to become the "comeback kid" of sorts in the Cougar community.

3)  Moos could be giving Wulff a very fair shake at keeping his own job, in part, to quelch any negative backlash that could have stemmed from the reported fact that Moos had made the decision to can Wulff while an AC victory and 5-7 season were still in play.

4) The sources involved in the previous leaks could be aligned with President Floyd who is known not to be the biggest Wulff fan in the world, but loves Bill Moos.

And, of course, there are many others.....

*****

So, stay tuned until tomorrow.  My sense: This thing is done.  They just want to have the opportunity for a proper set of goodbyes and press conferences.

All for now.  Go Cougs.

Tonight, the Christian Caples defeated our Cougies 38-21 and in so doing probably ended the tenure of Coach Paul Wulff, per Bud Withers at the Seattle Times.

We'll be back tomorrow.....
