 @Sutra I agree.

The seniors have taken a lot of heat this year and this was truly their win.   I tried to keep track of some of them during the game (until the fourth quarter, when I was too hepped up to focus on much of anything) and they were superb.   Here are a few of the obvious contributions.

His touchdowns not withstanding, the biggest contribution by Carl Winston may have come from his blocking.  He was a real force in protecting the passer.  All night he took on blitzers half again his size and was just fantastic.

It was undoubtedly Tuel’s best game.  Those Husky penalties were not simply accidents.  Tuel would see that a receiver was being held and fire a quick one in that direction.  It was clear as day that was what he was doing on at least two occasions and there were probably more I didn’t catch.

The game saving catch by Simone was a tremendous effort.   It looked like he tore the football out of the hands of the defender -- just out-muscled him for the ball.  Daniel Simmons was all over the place.  When he wasn’t forcing Price to look elsewhere he was breaking up the passes that came his way.

I don’t try to watch specific linemen but it seemed that Wade Jacobson must have had one heck of a day and I don’t remember him coming out during the entire game.  I do remember Steve Hoffart getting into the backfield for a tackle at least once and I believe one of the interference calls was on a pass directed to Andrei Lintz.

All around it was a pretty good day for a bunch of corpses.

I was SO happy to see Simone contribute. That was a hell of a catch and run. I'm sorry to see that he didn't have the overall career that I felt he could have, but that play was huge.

Fantastic win. When Furney nailed the game winner, I didn't even smile. My mouth just hung open! I could NOT believe we won that game, not after all the mistakes we made. A legitimate win too. Don't forget that the Cougs had 4 turnovers, yet won despite that. Held the dawgs to 69 first-half yards. If not for gifting them 3 short-field TD's, we would have won by 17.

So proud of these kids, so happy for the seniors. Glad to see that they didn't give up. Really looking forward to what this staff can do once they get more of 'their' players on the team. This will be a really interesting offseason, as I don't think we've seen the last of players leaving the team.

I was at the Colorado game, and have to admit that I was severely disappointed in what I saw. To see this team improve as the year went on, and to see the Stanford and UCLA efforts and the Apple Cup win, gives me hope for next year.

Wish I could have made it out to the game, but really enjoyed watching it, including jumping up and down and yelling "Run, fat man!" when Pole made that great play. Absolutely great finish to the season; it takes a huge sting out of an otherwise turd of a year.

Maybe Moos should give Coach Leach a $25,000 bonus for every game!

If the penguins moniter tis at all, guys take a look at your formating. It's really anoying. The font shifts to some condensed one to the one now displayed, and all the profile pictures are condensed. It also takes a very long time to download no matter the computer I use to access the site. Is any one else having the same challenges?

A day later and I'm still excited about the win. Let's hope this carries the lads through winter and spring workouts. When they feel like they don't have anything left to give, remember this game and how it felt and push that little extra. Now we wait for LOI day in February. Let's also hope the investigation by the PAC-12 wraps up soon. What ever the outcome, it's going to have some kind of effect on recruting. I really think they won't find anything of significance and the coaching staff will be exonerated. We can only wait now though. Funny thing about this whole mess is if Wilson had just gone about his business for another 3 weeks, he couuld d  have declared for the draft, left as a first rounder and made a boat load of money. Whether he makes it in the NFL reamins to be seen. I'm not sure now that he has the work ethic to really succeed there though.

What an insane win!  I had to miss the second half while reporting on Christmas Kickoff festival in Dayton. The last time I checked the radio, the Huskies had just scored their second TD of the third quarter. It was feeling inevitable.  I didn't check back again until after I'd finished.  When I got back to my car, Bob Rob was yelling about a great Apple Cup victory for Washington State, that the crowd was on the field, and that they'd been down 18 going into the fourth.  I started whooping it up so loud that I think I disturbed the peace of the Living Nativity across the parking lot!

I'm definitely watching PAC-12 Football in 60 on Pac-12 network this Sunday at 2:00.  In fact, I'm recording it...on not one, but two VHS and the DVR.

This is the best Apple Cup I've ever seen. Simply wild. I hope all of our seniors had an especially exciting and rewarding night. Proud of our boys.

Thanks Sutra and et. al. for giving an old guy a place to rant.  I saw some offensive formations I haven't seen before this year from this team.  Kudos to the O-Line five guys who played the entire game with no rest.  Great job to all the seniors plus to bad for Travis Long but I saw from my viewpoint he was hugging, or being hugged by others at the end.  It sure was sad to see Travis Long walking out for the celebration of the seniors on crutches.

I also have been very strongly opinionated on my perceptions of CML, and at least for this game I was dead wrong.  Great defense, Great offense, great job to CML and all his coaches.  I was also very glad to be at the game!!

Bowl game next year!!

I am sure there are going to be comments about the parallels between this game and the OT win in 2008 but one thing is different - we beat a good UW team that had also beaten Stanford this year. I agree SH - The Cougs needed a gritty, fight back from adversity win (and not just get close like UCLA) to bolster for thier confidence that they can win tough games going forward. Must say that Tuel channelled his inner Alex Brink today... Will enjoy this one for a long long time. Go Cougs!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Still amazed and thrilled about what just happened, thought we were cooked birds when it was 28-10 as the ever-popular "turd quarter" reared it's ugly head, but man did they rally.  Sure, UW fans will try and poke holes in the whole thing, blaming penalties and what-not.  But you know what?  Let them.  Let them try to cheapen it, but it doesn't change the outcome.

Just really, really pleased by the effort and how hard they kept playing when all looked lost.  A huge hat tip to the seniors, but I have to also say this - hat tip to Mike Leach.  To get them pointed in the right direction after an awful loss last week, against a ranked team, and to come out with a W is just fantastic.  I know entire seasons aren't made by one win, and they are going to bust their butts off starting Monday as Leach says.  But I can't help but think that at some point this offseason, maybe when the players are wiped out and just feeling like they can't do another rep, that MAYBE they'll remember tonight and that will get them to power through it!?  Maybe that's just wishful thinking, pie-in-the-sky stuff, but hey, it sure beats the alternative doesn't it!?  3-9 tastes bitter, but it's a hell of a lot sweeter than 2-10!!!!!!!

GO COUGS!

When the 3 in 3-9 is against the Huskies it counts for more.  I feel like 5-7 right now!!

That made up for soooo many heartbreak losses to the Fuskies! Btw - Leach said he is going to buy beer for everyone when the Cougs won at Vahalla (formerly the Cavern to old timers).. Go Cougs - better days!!

UW thought there was zero chance we could win and thought it was a gimme.... we proved otherwise!  Great effort by the team, seniors in particular, and way to rally back from a tough predicament down 28-10!  The Head Pirate and the Air Raid is back - GO COUGS!!!!
