Pick Em

Happy Saturday, Cougar Nation.

Hope the week has been good to you.

Well, today's line against the Sun Devils is even.

And that can mean only one thing: Pick em.

For BH, that's an easy thing to do.

After blazing the trails of prognostication last year, I have achieved below mortal status during this basketball season. I mean, since the Oregon State game, I have correctly predicted our fortunes ZERO TIMES.

So, perhaps it won't surprise you that I think we're going to lose today.

I don't have any good reasons for this prediction except that I really wonder whether or not our status as offensive juggernaut can last.

After all, we've scored over 40 points in 3 out of our last 4 halves of basketball. Moreover, one could argue that the only reason we won the last time against them is because Klay was 8 of 10 from THREE POINT LAND.

If we do it again today, then we've really really arrived. But ASU is going to come out with all that they have given their potential to slip to third or fourth by the end of today. On top of that, I expect Tony to start all five seniors today which might lead to a 10-2 hole that we can't get out of.

ASU 65 WSU 55

I won't be able to watch today's game, so please provide your thoughts and summaries post game.

This team is young and VERY inconsistent, no one has stepped up and provided the leadership that it will take this season. We've seen the highest highs and the lowest lows. Next year will be challenging as well. BUT! I believe our guys will mesh in '10-'11 and make another run at the pac10 title. Assuming they all stick around for '11-'12, that could be another amazing season.

Chris:

First of all, funny stuff yesterday.

Second: this team really hasn't been all that inconsistent. In fact, I'd argue its been quite the opposite.

For the better part of the year, this team would play its opposition even for 30-35 minutes only to lose composure and basketball games at the end.

Consider the number of games lost when we were within five points with five minutes left;

1) Pitt
2) Baylor
3) LSU
4) CAL at home
5) UCLA at home
6) USC at home
7) OSU at home
8) CAL on the road
9) USC on the road

What we've seen in the past two games is a team that looks like it has learned to close.

We'll find out today whether or not this team has really figured it out--even if it is a bit too late.

AMAZING finish. Taylor's shot was like "No no no no...YES!" The thing is we've missed that shot all year long it seems. I guess we were due to actually hit one?

Still, next weekend just got a lot more interesting.
