Just curious, is 63 points the biggest loss in Coug history? Anyone know?

That picture sums up my feelings pretty well. Except can we make it the Golden Gate Bridge?

Its good to have you back, Ben Million. Hope you stop by often with your keen humor and insights.

We're going to need em.

One more thing for the record: CAL is good--even if we're Idaho bad.

The years of top rated recruiting classes are showing now for the Berkeley Bears: they are big, fast, and big and fast.

Gary Roger is not even in the same league of Alex Brink, after watching Gary play, I like Alex Brink more and more. I don't understand those people who hate Brink at all.

This is the perfect example why Gary did not play when Alex Brink was here. NO Competition.

Don't start the Brink stuff. What's done is done.

What an epic disaster. Cal is outstanding, but wow, what a difference in talent. You can't coach strength and speed, two things we clearly lack right now.

Did I hear correctly that Wulff is opening up the QB competition? I thought Rogers would get a free pass for the first month, but what can you do?

Anyway, welcome to rock-bottom.

How about that Brandon Morrow last night? Watched him throw laser beams past k-rod and jete from the upper deck. yay baby m's!

Yep, when you see message boards yearning for a return of Brink and Doba, then you know that you have hit rock bottom.

And if Wulff starts someone other than Rogers on Saturday, it means that the staff has already mailed this one in.

It will be interesting to see if they think today was as bad in the grand scheme of things as we think it was--and is..

Vamos a ver.

I don't care who the QB is, the offensive line got their asses handed to them. For Cal to routinely rush 3 or MAYBE 4 and still get great pressure is just terrible. But the other side of the ball is even worse. Walden said about how if you ask a coach how he wants to build his team, he would from the front on back. He would want to start with a stout line, and then worry about the skill guys later.

That said, you have to envy Cal. They have recruited extremely well over the years, and even though it is just two games in, are basically brushing off the loss of all those skill guys the last few years. What they have are five tanks up front on offense who can move mountains, and on defense, they are big, strong and athletic. I don't think they'll beat USC in LA, but they sure look like they can handle the Quacks or the Sun Devils right now. But also remember, Cal hit rock bottom with Tom Holmoe too, just 1 win in his last year before Tedford arrived.

Oh, and Brandon Morrow, that was funny! And for what it's worth, I watched some of that game last night, just out of pure curiousness. And boy oh boy, that kid WAS DEALING. The Yanks aren't what they used to be, but he made A-Rod, Jeter, Abreu and the rest look absolutely silly at times. Pretty good weekend for Cal??

I agree, I think we just have to move forward and not preaching about Brink, but face it, Gary did not play or start for a reason which is Brink was much much better.

If Wulff goes with Lopina he's not mailing it in...Lopina gives us a better chance to win. Rogers is horrific. I feel bad for him because he might have been good with the proper development over the years but it's time to move on. It's also time to simplify the playbook.

Sedihawk said...

I don't know if there is anything they can do at this point. Declare an "open competition" every week and run out the best 22 guys you have on Saturday? Maybe that comes later. Who knows, maybe the staff has wanted to go with Lopina with an eye towards tomorrow all along? Maybe there are things about Rogers they are only now learning, things fans will never know? But if you can't run the ball and then can't pass-block three guys on obvious passing situations, then you are dead meat no matter who is back there. It's bad, bad, bad.

That game was brutal, but it isn't the death knell of this season either we've got some good stuff coming up. Just stick it out and get ready to be cheering for Lopina, because he looked a lot more comfortable than Rogers has under center in the new offense.

Also, shameless self promotion

The only thing more shameless than plugging yourself after such a humiliating loss was plugging your reasons why you thought we'd win this game earlier in the week.

But at least I have some comfort now knowing that there's someone out there who knows even less about football than Brinkhater.

To quote Jim Rome: GOOD NIGHT NOW!

I wish Brink would fade into obscurity. Or a bad dream that never should have happened. "brink was better than rogers" is like saying "the Geo metro was better than the Kia rio." they both SUCK.
