Game Recap: The New Beavs

Anyone remember the 23 years that the Beavs had a losing record?

Remember the days when we were a 3-8 team that would still beat the Beavs 48-7 every year?

Well, we are now those Beavs. The team that can take a whipping from even the worst in the country.

Seriously all. What did you all expect. THIS is exactly what happens when you fly near cross country and play in the HEAT in the same day.

That said, I think Rogers' rocket arm deserves a full play. So, if you want to play Lopina, fine.

But, with 10 games left, Rogers deserves a shot to develop into the NFL QB that he could become.

And it would benefit the program in the future as well.

Rogers should start next week.

Rogers has not show anything that he deserve to play in college, and you are talking about develop skills to do WHAT???????NFL???? lol!!!!

You must be Rogers's dad or brother....

You're totally right.

My true name is, in fact, Fred Rogers.

So, feel free to come by, feed the fish, or just watch the trolley go by, neighbor.

Me and King Friday will be waiting for you..

Could someone seriously get this fuck-tard off the blog. you suck balls BH...stop posting your stupid bullshit

Rogers might start anyway if Lopina's wrist is bad. On Offense we showed 'signs of life' but 5 turnovers? Who can you beat witht that?
And Holy Defensive breakdowns, BH. I will give Griffin some props but my guess is he won't torch anyone that badly the rest of the year. Am I right to be worried about Portland State at home?

Remember how people would laugh at UW with all their losses, and most of all, Husky "fans" just ripping each other in their desperation? I think we are seeing the early stages of that, last year and now, today. We just don't know how to handle this, as we are hitting a low point that many of us have never experienced. It is ugly, hapless, non-competitive, embarrassing, the list goes on. In one way or another, we are all in the same boat.

But what I don't want to see, at least here, are Coug fans attacking each other. If you want to do that, please go elsewhere. We aren't pollyana here, and we know a bad team when we see it. This is a bad team. But no need for personal attacks on people you don't even know.

One thing is certain - the tone is going to be quite different from here on out, here and everywhere else. I know we will still do our best on a daily basis to do what bloggers do best, and that's analyze what we see and give an opinion. But this blog has always tried to keep things light, and no matter how dark things get, you can count on that, from where we sit.

So sure, be upset/pissed off/angry at the state of WSU. We should be mad at what has happened to a source of pride. But whether you are chill or irate, it won't change the reality of the situation - we are BAD, and it isn't going to change for a while. How you deal with that is up to you.

Just to be clear, it was 28 consecutive losing seasons for the beavs.

i root for all cougs, including rogers...but we need someone that can help us improve and maybe win...not develop skills for the NFL. The focus should be on what's best for the team.

I think that IF Rogers were to be able to develop into an NFL type quarterback, it would probably wind up being best for the team.

In addition, while I think that Wulff and company will be able to rebuild this thing based on prior success as well as Wulff's biography, I think it would also be helped by some nice additional story lines.

Brandon Gibson making an NFL roster would be a good start. And IF Rogers were able to pull it all together, I think that would be a great one too.

Granted, he and we are a LONG way from that. However, when I see a 45 yard rope like I saw last night when he hit Gibson over the middle, it causes me to pause.

Honestly, I don't remember Derek Anderson or Andrew Walter having that type of zip.

That said, I think they both should play. I would just prefer that Rogers get the majority of the reps.

I actually agree with BH and I did see the sun come up this morning so not end of world quite yet.
ok, Missouri is putting a pounding on my local Nevada team right now 45-17 in ironically the time slot WSU/Baylor was to have today at 9:30am.....and man, what is wrong with CAL??

Yes, 3-4 with Mattingly back at LB where he should be (lets end the DL experiment with Andy).....Rogers at QB.....and lets just ride out the rest of the year and see if we can catch someone napping or make some major improvements? We have nothing else to lose - Lopina will get his chance either late in season or next year - or the way our O-line is protecting, it could be next game.....I am glad we have 3 QBs - we might have gone thru all of them by AppleCup/Hawaii.....and can't we open the playbook up a little more now at this point?? How about more blitzing, more razzle dazzle, more onside kicks, more cowbell - well maybe not cowbell - but lets not be predictable.....we have nothing to lose at this point right?

Lopina is definitely a better runner, but Rogers is a much better passer - I would like to see us stick with Rogers, too, while giving Lopina some snaps.

And also everyone keeps saying "well what did you expect?" I think a lot of us expected this to be a mediocre year but not for us to be this bad such as 1-12 or 0-13 and not be competitive at all or even in any game after the first 15mins.......according to predictions by the people who run this site (you know who you are), you did not expect this either - I did not see one person predict worse than 5-8......and of course we could still finish that way so who knows really?? But don't hammer us when you had same expectations and actually set the tone for our expectations by publishing your predictions of 7-6 and bowl game. Anyway, we are bad - like Bad News Bears, Waterboy before Bobby Bouche, latest movie from Clooney/Pitt "BAD" and I think we can all agree on that.......lets think positive thoughts for the remaining 10 games and maybe we can still get a few teams and make improvements.......also, I apologize if I offended anyone on this site the other day - that was not my intention - we are all brothers/sisters under the crimson & grey.

Billy, what are you talking about? Who picked us 7-6 and a bowl game? I know I picked us 9th, and several of the others had us right down at the bottom.

Brinkhater said...

I did. Plain and simple.
And if you return to those posts, that prediction was based on several assumptions all of which have been proven wrong--the biggest of which was winning yesterday's game.
Billy: when you look at this week's predictions you will see why it is that I said we would lose this game. --you don't fly and play in the same day under any circusmtance. Add a climate change to boot and you get a big stinking L.

And that was EXACTLY what we should have expected. we should have never played that game. And if we didn't have em in hoops, we would have cancelled.

What makes u think Rogers deserve a shot to develop into the NFL QB???YEAH RIGHT!!!! He probably can start for Pullman High and make all county, that's about it....

buschlightalum said...

no way rogers makes starter at pullman high. nfl potential? your credibility is out the window. i'm relatively new to this blog, but I already know who NOT to listen to.

Anonymous said...

Hahahahaha, couldn't agree more, buschlightalum...

Fair enough mother yuckers.

Been wrong before, will be wrong again.

But the arm strength is undeniable and if you all don't think that his release, delivery, and arm strength is worthy of pro consideration then it is YOU who lack credibility.

I think what's obviously questionable at this point is both mental toughness and decision making.

In my view, the decision making already looked better against Baylor.

In terms of mental toughness we have what evidence? Six quarters of starting and 4 quarters of other action?

Not enough of a sample in my book.

But maybe I haven't had enough Busch Lights lately.

Arm strength does not mean a thing to be a good QB, there are so many players have better arm strength than Rogers. Sure he can throw far, but the ball is either 15 yards away from WR or being picked by DBs...How is that for the arm strength??

Alex, is that you????
