Can't wait for all the corny 'Wulff' headlines when/if he is hired. "WSU is crying WULFF" Or "WSU is Hungry like the Wulff"

If Wulff is the guy, can anybody shed a little light on what type of scheme we are going to be looking at?

offensively he sounds like pretty much anything/everything. His interview with Jeff Aaron was great in that he talked about how versatile his offenses have been. And all along they've been #1 in the nation in offense a couple of times in his 8 years there, and #2 a few other times. But it sounds totally wide open. He even said one game they did the 2-minute, hurry-up offense the entire game! He loves to attack.

Defensively, it's a great, great question. Not only have we lost Doba but we lost our DC in one swoop. Will Burtnett stick around? His inroads into Texas recruiting have been pretty well-received. How about any of the other guys? Will Wulff be relying on the existing defensive guys under contract to keep things going? I guess that will all be hashed out when the time comes.

Speaking of time, one more "tease" - I would bet in 2 hours or less we're going to know something.

Who call the plays for Wolff, or does he? What happens with Rosey?

Can you imagine the costumes in the student section with Wulff as coach?

Sort of a classic Freudian slip, mispelling his name. Won't be the last time.

Yeah, I kind of got the impression that something was imminent from Vince's post today: "Staying in Pullman today, and possibly until a new football coach is named. If we find out anything, we'll pass it on. Till then …" Doesn't exactly sound like we're talking about weeks anymore.

I hope it's Wulff. I've become more and more convinced throughout this process that he's the right guy. I think the biggest thing is the established relationships he has with coaches in this state. As you've noted before, Willingham seems to be getting all the big in-state recruits. Perhaps a guy like Wulff can change that a little bit, a la Kelvin Sampson when he was here.

Although, as time goes by, I'm pretty sure I don't really want to know how it is that Sampson lured Mark Hendrickson and Tavares Mack to Pullman ...

No idea. He gives the impression that he's fully an offensive guy though, and went on about how diverse the system is. How can you argue with the results when his sophomore QB just threw for 34 TD's and a school record in passing yards?? A sophomore??

I highly recommend listening to his interview with Jeff Aaron. go back to Saturday's AM post and you'll see a link in the first few paragraphs.

I wasn't sure if Vince was kidding or not. Either way, a press conference should be announced soon if they are close to hiring someone.

Nobody here can appreciate the difficulty in winning at EWU. 8,000 seats and the smallest budget around. Montana draws only a few thousand less than WSU. EWU is the total have-NOTS of the Big Sky. the discrepency between EWU and Montana is even larger than WSU and USC.

One mroe thing to note is Wulff's winning %. 53-40 is great at EWU but when you consider that they play at least one money game per year where they are blown out well, it's even better. Something closer to 53-30 on even footing.

What are you guys talking about?

Nothing new from our source in the know. Dennis Patchin is reporting his source says it's down to 2 candidates and a press conference could be tomorrow. He says the speculation is Wulff or Smith.

Seriously now...Can you IMAGINE Smith?? Has anyone found anything positive on the recent coaching career of John L Smith? If that's the choice, this blog may go into hiding.

Looks like you're right! KREM and Cougfan reporting Wulf is the man. I think this is a strong hire.
